Bird (formerly MessageBird) is a Netherlands-based customer communications platform founded in Amsterdam in 2011. It provides programmable SMS, WhatsApp Business API, email (via SparkPost acquisition), voice, and an omnichannel customer service platform (Bird CRM). Bird is used by thousands of European businesses and enterprises for transactional messaging, marketing campaigns, and customer support. It holds EU telecom licences and processes data in EU data centres under GDPR. Bird is particularly strong in the Benelux, German, and Nordic markets and is a direct EU-based alternative to Twilio (US-founded) for companies requiring EU data residency for customer communications infrastructure.
