Hugging Face is a Paris-founded AI company (now US-headquartered but with deep European roots) that has built the leading open-source model hub and ML collaboration platform. Its Model Hub hosts over 500,000 open-source AI models, including Mistral, Llama, BLOOM, and thousands of fine-tuned variants — all freely downloadable and deployable on EU infrastructure. The Hugging Face Inference API and Inference Endpoints allow EU teams to deploy models on EU servers. Hugging Face Datasets and Transformers library are the foundational tools of the open-source AI ecosystem.
